Chennai : Samsung India Electronics is targeting a 30 percent market share in the laser printers market.

"The laser printer market this year is expected to be 950,000 units up from around 850,000 units last year. Last year we stabilised our laser printer business and in 2010 our plan is to increase our market share to 30 percent," Ranjit Yadav, director, mobile and IT business, told reporters here.

Apart from the world's smallest printer ML-1666, the company has launched three mono laser and multi functional printers.

He said printers, LCD monitors and notebook computers are the growth drivers for Samsung Electronics' IT business this year.

Uday Bhat, general manager, IT solutions business, said the target for the current year is to occupy the second slot in the laser printer business.

He said the game plan is to offer a strong product line up for the customers, strengthen the distribution network and scale up the operations in the business-to-business segment.

Samsung India will also this year expand its distribution network to smaller cities.

According to Yadav, the IT business (monitors, printers, note book computers) contribute around nine percent of the company's turnover and the target is to increase it to 10 percent this year.
