CII- Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre in Hyderabad, India, one of the centres of excellence of CII will receive the 2009 international Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Awards under the NGO category.
The award will be presented at a special ceremony on March 27, 2009 during the Aspen Environment Forum, Aspen, Colorado.
The CII - Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre's nomination was selected as the winner of the NGO Award by the judges from a set of 5 finalists, for the year 2009. This award is given for contributions in increasing renewable energy generation, increasing efficiency, achieving radical price reductions, or developing new green markets in developing countries.
CII- Green Business Centre is India's premier developmental institution offering advisory services to the industry in the areas of green buildings, energy efficiency, water management, environment management, renewable energy, green business incubation and climate change activities.
The centre over the years has been playing a key role towards fostering and promoting green buildings, energy efficiency & environmental stewardship through its activities and initiatives.
The Award created by the Aspen Institute Global Leadership Network, the Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Awards recognize and reward excellence for those making a real contribution to innovation, implementation, and communication of energy and environmental solutions.
The six awards, presented at this annual event, are designed to draw attention to the organizations and people who are making the biggest strides, acting as leaders, catalysts, and educators, particularly at the critical nexus between energy and environmental problems and solutions from around the world. The object is to celebrate success and provoke intellectually stimulating and productive thinking and conversations about ways to emulate and expand upon the success stories honored.
