Nomura, the Asia-based global investment bank, has announced the appointment of Birendra Agarwal as Managing Director and Chief Information Officer for Nomura Services, India (Powai). Birendra will be based in Mumbai and will report globally to Simon Lucocq, Global & Asia Pacific Wholesale CIO and locally to R. K. Rangan, President and CEO of Nomura Services, India.
Birendra brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in managing information technology for financial services in the US and UK. He has undertaken diverse roles ranging from strategic technology planning, application development, architecture, engineering and operations. At Nomura Services, India he is responsible for managing the technology support across global business units such as equities, fixed income and investment banking.

Prior to joining Nomura, Birendra was managing Envision Consultants, an outsourcing and offshore advisory firm. Before that, he was Managing Director and co-CIO, Global Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities at Citigroup, where he was responsible for building the technology division across various financial verticals. He holds a B.Tech from IIT, Mumbai and an M.S. from the University of Kentucky.
