Hindustan Zinc Announces Daily display of Silver prices

Hindustan Zinc has announced that it  would display Silver Prices on daily basis. These rates would also be available on 'www.hzlconnect.com'. Silver is a by-product and comes out with lead. The new entrant 'Sindesar Khurd Mine' of Hindustan Zinc in Rajasthan is also known for high silver content. Besides other mines, this mine is also under expansion.

Hindustan Zinc produces about 100 tonnes of silver and is poised to produce about 500 tonnes of silver once the ongoing expansions are completed. This would also make Hindustan Zinc as one of the largest producer of silver in Asia.
 
 Hindustan Zinc, a company of Vedanta Group in zinc and lead business, is the world's second largest producer of zinc-lead. Besides producing zinc and lead the company also produces cadmium, and silver as by-products. The Zinc-Lead prices are being updated every Thursday and Saturday and Cadmium Prices every Monday on the site on 'www.hzlconnect.com'.

Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company , is the second largest integrated zinc producer and also one of the lowest cost zinc-lead producers in the World. The Company's captive mines are located at Rampura Agucha, Rajpura Dariba and Zawar; and smelters at Chanderiya and Debari, in the State of Rajasthan and Vizag in the State of Andhra Pradesh. The Rampura Agucha mine is counted amongst the top three zinc-lead mines in the World and Chanderiya Smelter Complex amongst the largest smelters complex in the World.

At present the Company has metal production capacity of 754,000 tonnes per annum - 669,000 tonnes of zinc and 85,000 tonnes of Lead. The mining capacity stands as 7.1 Million tonnes per annum. The Company has been in league of lowest cost zinc - lead producers due to effective cost planning, optimum utilization of available resources, innovative eco-friendly technology and supplementing needs of power through captive thermal power plants that produce 314 MW of energy, to name a few. Hindustan Zinc is in a strong competitive position globally.

The Company is on its way towards phase - III of expansion in Rajasthan that comprises, 2 smelters with 310,000 tonnes of metal production capacity - 210,000 tonnes of zinc and 100,000 tonnes of lead per annum. The smelter complex would also see 160 MW of captive thermal power plants to supplement energy requirement and make the smelters self reliant on power .
