Blue Star has bagged a Rs 38 crore order for airconditioning India’s first indigenously designed Fast Breeder Reactor from Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) for the Kalpakkam project.
NPCIL has been entrusted to set up Fast Breeder Reactors by the Government of India, and a 500 MW Fast Breeder Reactor will be set up at the cost of approximately Rs 3500 crore at Kalpakkam.
The Fast Breeder Reactor is being built using the design and technology developed at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), also located at Kalpakkam. The Reactor at Kalpakkam is the first indigenously designed fast breeder reactor.
Blue Star’s credentials in offering expert cooling solutions coupled with excellent project management and execution capabilities have helped it acquire this order, against stiff competition. Blue Star will be airconditioning the entire Kalpakkam project, including supply of water cooled centrifugal chillers, to be completed over a period of 24 months.
